SmartStart Solid State Starter

I am pleased to let you know that MCE’s SmartStart—a fully integrated starter that reliably controls voltage and current for hydraulic elevator pump motor applications—is now the standard solid state starter on our hydraulic controllers.

Offered previously in just limited release, we have taken your feedback and designed an even better performing, and now field-proven SmartStart. Available for 3, 6, 9 or 12 lead motors, SmartStart provides the reliability, efficiency, versatility and precision that you require in a solid state starter.

SmartStart has been designed to seamlessly integrate into the controller. The result is a solid state starter with a combination of features, benefits and functionality that help it stand out among competitive solid state starters—and offers a significant reliability improvement over mechanical starters.

Following are just a few of the reasons why we think you’ll be pleased with SmartStart:

• Significantly smaller frame size than competitive starters
• No contacts to replace, which saves material, labor and downtime costs
• Low starting current with adjustable acceleration ramp eliminates high in-rush current
• Up-to-speed contact feature determines exactly when to connect load to motor for a smooth, trouble-free ride
• Runs cooler by bypassing SCR's once the motor is up to speed
• Built in reverse phase sensor, diagnostic monitoring and current limit starting
• Multiple starting and stopping options (set by DIP switches) available for customization
