PTC: Programmable
Traction Control

AC Series M | SCR Series M | MG | Group VVMC/VFMC* | PTC Specifications

Field-programmable controls for value-priced traction elevator performance

PTC Programmable Traction Control provides microprocessor-based programmable elevator controls with velocity feedback for superior performance with geared elevators to 350 fpm (1.7 m/s) with either DC or AC motors. PTC is the flagship of the VVMC-1000 series, widely recognized for field-proven reliability.

Field-programmable features include: door functions, building configuration (landings, front/rear doors and hospital emergency service), fire codes (choose from over a dozen different codes) and spare inputs and outputs (over 100 pre-programmed functions are provided for maximum field flexibility). Some features may require additional hardware.

PTC's user friendly LCD display provides access to a comprehensive list of options, which are easily programmed using the 32-character alphanumeric display. Everything you need comes with the controller - no external tools or computers required [does this contradict the last sentence of the paragraph above?]. Pushbutton simplicity makes programming a snap.

Easily understood car status messages simplify troubleshooting. Advanced internal diagnostics frequently help identify the source of a problem. System "flags" and memory are also accessible, if needed, for advanced diagnostic work.

PTC-AC Series M

PTC-AC Series M is available with a variety of flux vector AC drives to suit every budget for applications to 350 fpm, 1.78 mps. Series M dramatically simplifies field adjustment while providing smooth, “stepless” acceleration and deceleration.

Top-of-the-line MCE TorQmax™ AC drives bring 16K PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) technology to the elevator industry. These drives virtually eliminate takeoff lag and raise the bar for geared AC performance. Other brand name drives are also available through your MCE sales representative.

The MCE PowerBack™ AC regeneration system recaptures energy for other uses with impressive financial payback. Eliminate unnecessary heat dissipation in the machine room while reducing the need for cooling capacity.

Factory-matched drive and motor packages from MCE simplify ordering. You can count on proper motor and drive matching and factory-preset drive parameters for fast, headache-free startup and a lifetime of reliable system performance.

PTC options include MCE basic security. Car panel pushbuttons function as a keypad for entry of a floor access code. The correct access code must be entered before the controller will accept a call to an access-restricted

PTC-SCR Series M

PTC-SCR Series M provides regenerative six-pulse drive technology for geared applications to 350 fpm, 1.78 mps. The field-proven MagneTek DSD 412 digital drive is the ideal mate for the PTC-SCR Series M control.

Preset drive parameters and adaptive tuning facilitate quick and easy final adjustment. Trimpots have been eliminated to assure years of reliable, trouble-free operation. The compact, wall-mount package is available for lower horsepower applications, while vertical cabinets are supplied for projects to 75 HP.

VVMC/VFMC Series for Group Operation

For multiple car groups, the VVMC/VFMC non-programmable controller is used in conjunction with the MC Group dispatcher. Capabilities range to 12 cars serving 64 landings.

Easily installed, the M3 Group dispatcher provides sophisticated ETA dispatching, ensuring the shortest possible waiting time for passengers.

Traffic conditions are re-evaluated ten times every second, optimizing elevator use while minimizing elevator movement within the building. M3 Group efficiency eliminates needless elevator trips which, in turn, minimizes equipment wear and tear and helps reduce maintenance costs.
