Technical Bulletin Nuisance tripping of the Allen Bradley electronic overloadsADVISORYDate January 28, 2005 Reference 139 Route to Service Manager/Modernization Manager From MCE Technical Support Department (916/463-9200 then touch 6) EquipmentPotentially all hydraulic controllers shipped between Oct. 2004 and Jan. 2005 with Allen Bradley electronic overloads. Description Recently, Allen Bradley notified MCE that the 193-EA1XX electronic overload relays manufactured during the months of October, November and December 2004 employing ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) may be affected by noise. The associated date codes for these months are KWM, LWM and MWM respectively. DetailThe problem will be seen as intermittent trips of Allen Bradley SMP-1 and MCS-E1 electronic overloads. The reduced immunity to noise affected only a small percentage of applications, based mainly on the induced noise levels present in the system. Additionally, there is no time delay for an application to exhibit nuisance tripping, so any problems should appear immediately. ActionIf you observe any intermittent overload trips or you have an overload with the above mentioned date code, please call MCE Technical Support for troubleshooting assistance.
MCE will provide necessary replacement parts once the diagnosis has been confirmed. Help Should you require any technical assistance on this or any other issue:
