Description

Version 7.10 of the Group CGP-D dispatching software has been found to contain a software anomaly resulting in dispatching inefficiency. Under certain circumstances the call assignment is made to a car not able to fulfill the assignment in a timely manner. Version 7.10 was released as a routine production upgrade intended to provide various minor software enhancements.

Version 7.10 software was installed in Group controls shipped between 11/23/99 and 3/27/00. Version 7.08 is free of this software anomaly. If dispatching inefficiencies are observed, version 7.08 must be substituted for 7.10. All shipments made after 3/28/2000 have version 7.08 software included in the Group dispatcher.

Action

If you received this bulletin, you have one (or more) Group controls that has version 7.10 software and must be replaced with version 7.08. This also requires that the individual car MP software be replaced with the enclosed EPROMs which makes the "FTLF" parameter in each car adjustable. 0ne set of CGP-D EPROMs for the group, and one MP EPROM for each car in the group has been enclosed per the attached listing.

The replacement procedure is simple and requires no readjustment. Dispatching software is stored on two EPROMs. Turn the group power off using the group power supply switch. The cars will continue to operate under emergency dispatching (wild operation). Replace the existing CGP-D EPROMs with the new ones that are included with this bulletin. The dispatching software (EPROMs) is installed on the middle board of the Group's Swing Panel. Turn power back on. Now, turn off power to each car one at a time and replace the MP EPROM. The MP EPROM is installed in the swing panel of each individual car.

Verify that the Adjustable Control Variable "FTLF" is turned off on each car.
