All MCE equipment supplied with any Baldor AC or SWEO AC drive.

Description

While Baldor Electric Inc., still manufactures and supports their AC elevator drives, many drive models are not stocked in regular quantities and may have manufacturing lead times of up to 8 weeks.

Action

IMPORTANT: If an elevator is shut down due to a Baldor Drive failure it may take up to 8 weeks to have the system back in service. If you have a mission critical elevator that cannot tolerate a prolonged shutdown, we recommend that you bring this to the attention of the building owners. MCE has tried to provide alternate solutions in case of drive failure. The solutions we have identified are listed below. For highly mission critical applications, we recommend that you purchase a spare drive unit.

Repair: Baldor does still offer repair service for these drives. To schedule a repair, MCE customers should call MCE technical support at the number below. Alternately, there are many Baldor Authorized Repair Centers around the country that can be located by zip code at www.baldor.com. These repair centers can be contacted directly without the involvement of MCE or Baldor. The repair process could take 1-3 weeks or more depending on the repair center chosen.

Replace with a New Baldor AC drive: Call MCE for price and lead time. Note that lead times can be as long as 8 weeks.

Replace with non-Baldor AC drive: In many cases, MCE offers Magnetek or Yaskawa as a field replacement for the Baldor AC drive. Call MCE for price and lead time. Please note that this option requires a controller modification and drive adjustment, and may take 1-3 weeks to complete.
